Founded in 1971 in Fresno, California, United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley (UHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental, and community health services to medically underserved residents of California's Central Valley. UHC operates over 40 medical and dental facilities across Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties, delivering approximately 1.1 million service encounters annually to a predominantly low-income patient population that has historically lacked access to affordable, integrated care.

Classic Lake assisted UHC, a long-term client, with accessing New Markets Tax Credit financing for the expansion of capacity at its Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center, its Surgical Services Center, and its Fresno-Tuolumne clinic. These facilities provide a diverse set of services ranging from primary, dental, and behavioral health care all the way through comprehensive specialty care services, including but not limited to cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, pulmonology, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, and general surgery.

The $45 million NMTC financing will assist UHC with implementing otherwise cost-prohibitive operational enhancements at the facilities, expanding staffing, and further expanding access to primary and specialty care throughout the region. The facilities financed are also instrumental to UHC's graduate medical education partnership with UCSF Fresno and Inspire Health Medical Group, which supports over 200 medical residents annually across 16 specialty areas, helping to build a physician pipeline in a region that has long struggled to recruit and retain specialists.
