United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley (UHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing comprehensive medical, dental, and community health services to medically underserved populations across California’s Central Valley. UHC has served the region since 1971. It runs more than 40 health centers across Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties and provides more than 1.1 million service encounters a year. UHC primarily serves regions designated as Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs) and Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
The project will build two new clinics with 22,300 square feet of space in total. The 7,000-square-foot West Ashlan Avenue clinic in Fresno will provide specialty radiology and diagnostic imaging, including MRI, CT, mammography, and bone densitometry, along with internal and family medicine. Strategically located next to UHC’s existing West Ashlan clinic (which is operating past capacity), the new facility will help ease service and parking constraints.
The 15,300-square-foot Clovis Avenue clinic will provide medical, dental, pediatric, women’s health and perinatal, behavioral health, chiropractic, and urgent care, plus on-site lab and x-ray. The Clovis site is part of a larger redevelopment along the corridor and the former La Paloma Winery. Both clinics will offer insurance enrollment help, translation, health education, and free daily van transportation.
